Welcome

What is Company of Strangers?

It is a world that demands observation, and as humans we are allowed, inclined, or driven to observe for its own sake. That is, not only to find core structures of existence (food, shelter, continuation, safety) but merely to observe, and from this practice we are left with images of the world. This practice is no less important than the other reasons to observe, in fact perhaps this practice is a defining aspect of our humanity. It is the ordering of these observations, images, which allows for introspection, transformation, and perhaps some kind of transcendence. Company of Strangers is a gathering of people who are dedicated to the collection and ordering of observation. Their work is to discover the world, to search for their potential, to discover an order of images. Their work is to allow an audience to observe, to encourage the act of creating order and meaning. It is not their work to illustrate meaning; it is their work to allow meaning to unfold. In this way each observer is allowed the full potential of transformation and transcendence.
